Q: What is workers' compensation?
A: Workers' compensation is insurance that your employer is required by law to carry. Any employer with three (3) or more employees is required to carry workers' compensation insurance. Workers' compensation insurance is there to help you if you are injured on the job.

Q: What should I do if I am injured on the job?
A: Immediately report your injury to your employer/supervisor. Immediately obtain appropriate medical treatment. Immediately contact my firm at (770) 645-8801 to discuss your claim in greater detail and your rights.

Q: What are my benefits under workers' compensation?
A: The employer and/or the insurance company are required to pay for your medical treatment, lost wages, permanent disability rating, and sometimes you can obtain a lump sum settlement.

Q: Do I need an attorney to handle my workers' compensation claim?
A: You have the right to representation by an attorney of your choice in connection with a work-related injury. Keep in mind that the workers' compensation insurer is NOT your advocate and will not have your best interest in mind. I highly recommend discussing your claim with an attorney.

Q: When must I file a claim with the State Board of Workers' Compensation?
A: To protect your rights, you should file a claim with the Board immediately after your accident or injury. Technically, an individual must file a claim with the Board within one (1) year of the date of his or her accident.
